To distribute 30 laptops to our Local Representatives worldwide in order to uphold effective communication between them and our volunteers, staff, Programme Managers, host organisations and others. This will ensure the sustainability of our programmes and improve relationships between all parties.

    Situation

    Due to time differences and high international call rates, email is the most appropriate form of communication we use. Currently, most of our Local Representatives use Internet Cafés or friends’ PCs. Others use PCs that were distributed to them by us many years ago and that are so dated they struggle to perform to a satisfactory level. This can often lead to volunteer Local Representatives feeling isolated and undervalued and our volunteers abroad do not feel as supported as we would like.

    Solution

    By supplying each Local Representative with a laptop, we can make sure it is always possible to communicate with them in a timely manner. If any problems arise, all parties can be made aware as soon as possible without unnecessary cost or inconvenience. It will ensure our volunteer Local Representatives feel valued and appreciated. Volunteers being able to contact their Local Representatives quickly and easily will help to resolve problems faster and develop stronger relationships between them.
