Situation
Isiolo has one of the highest incidences of HIV in Africa and it is also one of the poorest and most marginalized areas. Many children in the community struggle on a daily basis with HIV in their family. The problem we are trying to solve is to give the most vulnerable children the best possible chance to live successful lives and to support their family and siblings. We will achieve this by offering quality education, both academic and vocational in a safe, supportive and healthy environment.
Solution
Tumaini Education Trust will use funds to offer: An innovative and effective curriculum which teaches both the kenyan curriculum and vocational skills such as carpentry and masonry. Support for the student’s families at home with regular home visits from community mothers and extra food so the student can feel comfortable at school knowing their families are not suffering while they are absent One-on-one medical and counseling support.
