There are hundreds of informal, non-registered crèches in South Africa looking after thousands of highly vulnerable small children in both rural and urban areas. Our intention is to expand our Caring for Crèches programme by training 100 more crèche leaders to recognise and act on suspected abuse

The appalling levels of abuse of thousand of small children all over South Africa
Solution
We know from recent Caring for Crèches programmes delivered by Childline SA, our local partner in this, that for every crèche leader we train the learner will identify and report the abuse of at least 4 small children, and have an impact on the lives of 100's more. Since 2008 we've trained over 550 people and over 2000 abused little children are now receiving formal professional help as a result.
