    Situation

Bullying is a problem in schools that is not going away. Kidscape does a lot of preventative work in schools with teachers and children but the helpline is being called on more and more by worried parents. Especially when they hear of a suicide because of bullying. Kidscape plan to expand their helpline by taking on more advisors, some of whom may be volunteers. Redevelop their website to include for the first time and email facility for those who do not or cannot use the telephone.

    Solution

This will vastly increase the number of parents that can be given advice. They will be advised on how to help their child and cope with the school as well as being made aware of the options they and their children have. The more parents and schools we reach, the less bullying will be allowed to continue. The problem may always be around but if it is handled correctly, it will be short lived in each individual case and reduce the incidents of suicide directly attributed to bullying.
