Increasingly rural communities are expected to take control of their own destinies, whether that be through asset ownership, influencing the local plan or attracting inward investment. Lack of knowledge and confidence plus geographical isolation are major barriers in building sustainable rural communities. This project seeks to overcome these barriers.
By increasing knowledge, and creating confidence, community groups will be empowered to take forward projects that will ensure that their communities become strong and sustainable. In addition, sharing this knowledge with other rural groups will prevent the 'reinvention of the wheel' and will disseminate information while building relationships with similar groups, thus reducing feelings of rural isolation.
