Santrokofi is a fairly traditional rural Ghanaian village, due to it's poverty it has a large number of orphaned children. These children have at times been cared for by their extended family, however, these families are struggling to even support their own children let alone these orphans. This results in the children being passed from home to home, or left with elderly relatives who simply can't cope. The majority therefore have to work and do not receive an education.

Working with the village chiefs we have decided that the best way to solve this problem is to build a home for these children and then to send them to the local school. A home will provide the children with shelter, security, stability, food and access to health care. Attending the local school will keep them integrated with their community.
