Reading Community Radio

Training Programme

Our project is to give local children and young people the opportunity to gain radio, broadcasting and media skills. They will learn how to make their own radio programmes and whilst they do so they will develop their communication skills, increase their self-esteem and improve their confidence.

A number of local children and young people are disadvantaged and lack the self-esteem and confidence to learn new skills. In learning these new skills, they will improve their communication skills, and they will gain transferable new skills which will in turn help them to seek employment.

Whilst we continue to roll out this training programme through a series of workshops, we will be engaging with local schools to get children involved and allow them to help and contribute. We will also involve local young people to provide feedback on how to organise future programmes to ensure that we continue to meet their needs. This project will create a new generation of radio enthusiasts and presenters.
