The 26th May 2012 is the 50th anniversary of the public notice of the withdrawal of the Thalidomide drug from the UK market. To commemorate this important milestone, we are planning a weekend Conference at which all those affected by thalidomide - parents, children, partners and families – come together to celebrate the lives of those directly affected by this enormous medical disaster.The Second part of the event will be a much larger, never done before History of Thalidomide
Solution
It will draw together the full history of the Thalidomide disaster, and by use of contemporary art will also demonstrate the full impact of this event. The combination of an art exhibition with a historical exhibition will for the first time allow participants to gain a full appreciation of what happened, how it happened. how society responded, and how the survivors have striven to achieve independent lives as respected members of society.
