Big Dance is the biggest dance event in the world, and in 2012 we aim to get 3 million people dancing! Big Dance is about all dance, all dancers and all dancing. We have a really exciting programme of commissions, mass participation events and campaigns planned in the run up to London 2012.

London 2012 and the Cultural Olympiad offer a once-in-a-lifetime and irresistible opportunity to build on the success of Big Dance festivals in 2006, 2008 and 2010 and put participation in dance in the UK on the world stage. Our ambition is to reach three million people as active participants, through a national programme of mass dance participation events and high-profile campaigns.

People love to dance, we want more people to dance - for fitness, for fun. Big Dance 2012, pioneered in London, will profile people's passion for dance, offer inspiration and encouragement to try it out, develop a life-long commitment to dance and encourage increased physical activity and improved fitness. Big Dance 2012 is a collective response from the dance sector to the opportunities of London 2012 - and will build on the investment made in Big Dance London through the Legacy Trust.
