    Situation

The chronic shortage of Essential Medicines in the Public Hospitals in The Punjab, leads to loss of lives, chronic illness, increase in poverty and break down of the social contract between the public and The State. A lack of capacity in the supply chain means that medical donations are not always handled and distributed in the most appropriate manner.

    Solution

IHP facilitates donations of top-quality, in-date medicines, from all sections of the Pharmaceutical Industry across UK and Europe. DHL provides free warehousing and Pakistan International Airlines provide reduced airfreight charges, enabling the medicines to be transported quickly to The Punjab for minimal cost. In addition, IHP aims to facilitate the transfer of best practice in medical supply-chain management developed by the WHO in previous projects working with IHP in Pakistan.
