On Friday evenings we run a community childrens and youth club on the Killisick Estate in Arnold, Nottingham. These community project have benefited 150 children and young people over the past year. Many children attending the clubs are from challenging circumstances and the clubs support children
It ran from 10:00 AM, 6 December 2010 to 10:00 AM, 4 January 2011
Our work is focused on children from the Killisick area of Arnold, the Killisick Ward is shown to be in the top 20% of deprived wards nationally, as shown by its Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) Score. Through our experience of working in this area we are aware of the relative poverty and vulnerability of many of these children. In addition, our clubs focus on inclusion of children coping with difficult home lives and social exclusion.
The difference our clubs make in the life of the children are: 1) Through play and learning; 2) Strong existing links with local schools and community groups; 3) Through reducing anti-social behaviour; 4) Positive role models for children are provided.
