Lord Nelson will embark on her first worldwide mission for the Jubilee Sailing Trust in October 2012. With your support, we can complete the critical modifications she requires and ensure she remains in 'ship shape' condition during her 22 month ‘Sail the World’ programme beginning from Southampton

    Situation

Through the JST experience and what we have learnt by operating voyages around the UK for 34 years, we aim to promote the following benefits internationally: INTEGRATION, EMPOWERMENT, REHABILITATION, EDUCATION. For this to happen, Lord Nelson must have completed an extensive refurbishment in Southampton at the end of 2012 and have secured major funds available for maintenance periods and dry dockings she will undertake during her 22 month adventure around the World.

    Solution

Imagine the impact of a tall ship sailed by a crew of all physical abilities sailing into cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Kochi, Fremantle and Auckland. Statistics from the International Labour Organisation suggest that; an estimated ‘386 million of the world's working-age people have some kind of disability, unemployment among the persons with disabilities is as high as 80% in some countries'. Lord Nelson needs refurb work completed prior to and during this 22 month venture.
