Business people will share their skills, knowledge and experience with young jobseekers from their local community. Young people often struggle with confidence, goal setting, focus and resilience, especially when they experience "failure" and rejection in job hunting. We will train mentors to help.

If you come from a disadvantaged background, have not done well at school/college, or suffer from low confidence, lack of self-esteem, or mental health problems, the process of jobhunting can be extremely disheartening - especially when you have no experience of work. After several months of being rejected (or ignored) by employers, many young people lose hope and fall into a negative spiral. A mentor can break this cycle.
We run training courses for young people (including The Prince's Trust Team Programme). These are very powerful but it can still take weeks or months for participants to find work at the end. Some find that maintaining the momentum and motivation can be difficult. By recruiting training mentors and matching them with young jobseekers (following the example set by organisations in other areas), we can make a difference in the Swindon area.
