Improve the mental and physical health of children & young people. Build independence, resilience and self esteem as well as increased social skills such as team-building, cooperation and project planning. Promote environmental awareness. Reduce impact of vandalism/ litter in open woodlands by encouraging socially-responsible behaviour. Improve their listening, communication, negotiation, and verbal skills. Improve their positive mental attitude and confidence.
Getting children and young people into the outdoors encourages them to explore with all of the senses. It empowers them in the natural environment, and encourages spatial awareness and motor development through a programme of team working and expressive activities. The activities involve physical work which improves their health and encourages them to communicate with each to achieve a common goal. It enables children and young people to gain new skills which can be used in other areas.
