    Situation

Taking part in art creation is a form of self-expression and enhances the social and emotional development of young people. However, coming from BME communities in the poverty-stricken London boroughs of Hackney and Haringey, the young people we are targeting have very few opportunities to develop their talents in a culturally suitable environment. Thus they do not have the opportunities to develop their skills and improve self-confidence, nor the chances to pursue careers in the arts.

    Solution

Teens have Talent will provided free training sessions to young people in the community who want to join. The setting will be culturally suitable so that the children feel comfortable and safe amongst their peers, and artists will be employed to develop the potential of every single member. In this way, they will be able to recognise their own abilities and gain self-confidence that comes with learning new skills. This will enhance their social and emotional development and expand their horizons
