Most children in hospices have a life-limiting condition and are not expected to reach adulthood. The vast majority of them will have severe and multiple learning and physical disabilities. Their lives will be punctuated by strict medical regimes and dictated meal times, and their conditions will affect anything and everything from their speech, vision and hearing, to their dexterity and mobility.

Technology like the Eyegaze provides opportunities for children in hospices that most of their peers would take for granted. Because it relies solely on the movement of the user's eyes even some of the most disabled youngsters are able to create, communicate and take control.
