    Situation

The Bowls Centre is sited on two levels.. the entrance, reception and bowls arena (bowling rinks) on the lower level, with viewing balcony, toilets (including disabled toilet), changing rooms and cafe/bar on the upper level.Current access is by a short flight of steps (3 separate sets) behind the bowls rinks, or by leaving the bowls arena and travelling from reception up a fairly long steep slope. From the far side of the bowling rinks to the toilets via the slope is a long way for a disabled person. The proposal is to install a wheelchair platform lift which will lift a disabled person in a wheelchair approx 6 feet to the upper level. At the time of entering these details we still await a detailed estimate of costs but we do not expect them to exceed £20k. Scarborough Indoor Bowls Centre Ltd has Charitable Status and has just recently won an annual local award as the best comunity sports club.
