    Situation

The Saturday outings and holiday schemes offer respite to families and give independence to their children, who enjoy the opportunity to have fun away from family supervision. For older young people this is particularly important. For other family members, particularly siblings who often also have a caring role, there is the chance to be themselves and spend quality time with parents. Once a year we also organise a short break holiday for families - in the past we have been to Butlins, Alton Towers and Eurodisney. Families pay for the holiday package but InterActive fundraises for the cost of transport and a family meal out, and also provides workers to offer support and respite to families when needed. For some families, this is the only holiday they have, as the logistics of going away with a disabled child and no support are often too great. We have to raise on average £2000 each year for this project
