Situation
The Key Centre hosts adult learning, basic life skills training, courses for young students in danger of exclusion from school, courses for adults (computer, photgraphy and other hobbies-based courses), seminars, worskhops, youth groups, music and dance workshops, kitchen-based projects (healthy eating, diet etc) as well as playing host to other organsiations who operate drop-ins eg substance abuse families, community mental health etc. Many of the activities in the centre are funded by learning providers but the core costs are difficult to fund. We need to fund a receptionist, cleaners, caretaker and a person to run the centre and it is not easy to include these core costs in funding bids. Our need is to cover these salaries and the running costs of the Centre. Approximately 15,000 use the centre each year.
