Situation

The Dialogue Society has grassroots experience of key barriers to positive intercultural engagement in UK society: - Minority groups sometimes become somewhat insular and isolated because they lack the skills and confidence to build stronger relationships with other groups - Some young and/or vulnerable UK Muslims do not have a strong sense of how their faith relates to relations with the non-Muslim majority; they are vulnerable to dangerous extremist narratives which distort Islam's teachings

Solution

Sending Dialogue Society publications to a meticulously prepared target list helps to inspire and empower positive engagement. The ten manuals provide tangible ideas, know-how and resources to support people to reach out to one another and strengthen their communities. In Dialogue in Islam, Ahmet Kurucan and Mustafa K Erol give a readable introduction to the relationship between Islam and dialogue, empowering Muslims to counter extremist interpretations and to engage with confidence.
