    Situation

The Ring & Ride project has been running since 2001. We started then running just two trips per week, and have expanded to have over 250 registered users and trips five days a week. Our wheelchair accessible bus is available to anyone who does not have their own transport, and cannot access public transport. We are in a very rurally isolated area, where 30% of the population do not own a car. Public transport is occasional at best, with some areas seeing a bus only once a week, and other areas not even on bus routes. Our nearest train station is 30+ miles. We provide a lifeline for people to be able to do their own shopping without relying on friends and relatives, and be able to socialise and make new friends. For some of our users the Ring and Ride is their only chance to get out at all. We need continued support to fund the service, bus lease costs, admin and drivers.
