We are seeking funding for a range of specialist amenities and resources to support our new Bereavement Support Programme. The programme is targeted at vulnerable families who have suffered the loss of a beloved child, offering 1:1 care to individual family members as well as the collective unit.

    Situation

To provide holistic support to families who have suffered the loss of a beloved child. We have been able to secure funding to provide specialist workers to deliver one-to-one work with siblings but we now want to extend this provision to parents, to provide vital resources and develop peer support groups which can be used to help families during the most challenging of times.

    Solution

The project will fund resources for families to help them explain grief and loss to bereaved siblings and other family members, recognising the potential differences in culture, faith, perspectives on death and personal belief. In addition the funding will help reduce social isolation suffered by such families by providing a peer support group which will offer activities and interaction for siblings, parents and whole families.
