The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust cannot totally change the reality of a seriously ill or disadvantaged child’s life, but we believe it can offer some happy experiences that will make a difference to their view of what life can hold. It is the happy memories a child can cherish and re-live in their darkest times that really matters. If a child leaves with that, then we have truly achieved something.

    Situation

Each week from April to October, groups of children and their care staff enjoy a week-long break at our beautiful 17th Century Farm House, set in ten acres of Cheshire countryside. During their holiday, the children participate in a tailor-made programme of activities to suit their individual needs, led by our team of Activity Play Workers. These activities include: Arts & Crafts – clay modelling, mask-making, painting etc., Rebound Therapy – a fun activity which encourages co-ordination and concentration, Music – a fantastic way for children to express difficult emotions and have fun, Sports and Games – encouraging children to enjoy physical activity and team work, Sheep, chickens and ducks! – a fantastic opportunity for children to care for animals and Horticultural therapy – ideal for teaching children about food production and nutrition. All costs for each week-long holiday, including accommodation, meals, transport, activities, materials and offsite activities are met by The Adventure Farm’s year-round fundraising programme. The cost for one week’s holiday is £8,400. A donation of £100,800 will provide 12 free week-long holidays for disabled and disadvantaged children in 2008/9. The Adventure Farm cannot change a child’s life in just a few days, but we believe we can show the children who stay with us that there is more to life than their day to day existence. Changing a life may not be possible, but making a difference is.
