Situation

We have been approached by a number of local organisations who would like us to work with their service users to help them improve their soft skills and their technical skills. We can do this effectively if we were able to equip our second studio and show these yound disadvantaged individuals how to make radio prorgammes. Funding for community radio stations is becoming harder to achieve as so many charities are looking for support from an ever decreasing funding pot of money.

Solution

We will use this equipment to train young people not in education, training or employment, how to make their own radio programmes whilst they improve their self-confidence and esteem. Feedback from previous young people shows that their confidence has improved by 24%, their motivation increased by 26%, their problem-solving skills improved by 14%, their public speaking skills improved by 38% and their team-working skills improved by 54%. This training will help their path into employment.
