TASTE is a newcomer to Nigeria. As such, to demonstrate commitment to those we support, we are 'encouraged' by Nigerian Government to put down roots and build our own office. This BIG IDEA is to support an office building project.

    Situation

TASTE has gained NGO recognition in Plateau State but is now seeking national recognition with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). A requirement of CAC registration is that we must demonstrate our commitment to Nigeria by owning our property. This must be achieved by December 2008. Our Nigerian Trustees have recommended a site at Rayfield (a expanding suburb of Jos, with good road links to the rest of the country). The site has a half constructed building which can be used as the basis for an office and guest quarters for visiting UK personnel. TASTE’s charitable activities are becoming self-funding and, once this project is completed, our activities would be able to meet ongoing costs of the office and compound. However, if we were required to use these activities to fully fund this project, the cost of services to disadvantaged communities would soar to a point which would make them unviable.
