Situation

Every year, we help over 1200 visually impaired people who are suffering from the traumatic effects of sight loss and visual impairment. Deteriorating sight is extremely stressful & can lead to depression, loss of confidence and isolation. 79% of our service users are people over 65 years of age and many live in small rural towns and villages. Most older people are particularly vulnerable at the point at which sight deteriorates significantly & this is often exacerbated by rural isolation

Solution

Your funding will contribute to the cost of providing a home visiting service for older people whose sight is deteriorating or who are finding it difficult to manage and technology support for those who want to use computers, tablets and smart phones to communicate. We know that early intervention and the provision of a range of practical and emotional support makes all the difference.
