This campaign has now closed

Knoxwood has been put under considerable strain already in 2010 after the closure of 2 major Wildlife and Bird sanctuaries in the area (we have taken on a lot of permanent resident birds from one, who will be with us for life) and the retirement of several foster carers. We need more "Wild at Heart" people to support our work and fund us to allow us to do our job as we should.

    Situation

Every sanctuary needs new equipment, new stuff, better facilities. Knoxwood is lucky and has been given all kinds of top equipment by very kind people. What we don't have is the funding to handle the major escalation of injured wildlife and unwanted animals we have seen this year. Sanctuaries and foster homes are closing all over the UK, putting enormous pressure on us, and others like us. Our Animal food bill has escalated from Approx £12,000 in 2008 to almost 25,000 in 2009. We are taking on more and more deserving cases, but eventually (for the first time in 25 years) we will have to stop before we cannot support them all. Quite simply, if you have a Wild Heart and want to help our sanctuary, whatever the amount, we would love to hear from you. We hope to raise enough to fund our foodstuffs outlay for the year.
