Asbestos was used extensively in schools in the 20th Century. As a result, an increasing number of teachers, support staff and former pupils are now succumbing to the asbestos cancer, Mesothelioma. Because the substance was so widely used within the fabric of school buildings, it is still heavily present. We aim to warn school staff of the danger in their workplace, and advise them on how to protect themselves from exposure to the deadly fibres.

We will produce an interactive computer programme which demonstrates where asbestos might be found in a school. This could be projected onto a large screen at an event or meeting. Also, it could be saved onto a USB stick for school staff to view on their own pc. The interactive programme will be accompanied by an A5 sized booklet which summarises the information given in the main presentation. There will also be advice on protecting your health and the contact details of relevant organisations.
