Each July, DAST organise an Action Mesothelioma Day. A reflection and celebration of life service is held to remember all those East Midlands residents that have lost their lives to this destructive and painful disease. Awareness of Mesothelioma is raised.

DAST aim to raise awareness of the damage that asbestos can inflict on peoples' health. Mesothelioma is a little known but terrible disease and we wish to gain a wider and better understanding of how it is contracted and how health and families can suffer damage.
Solution
This event publicises the effect of Mesothelioma on the East Midlands population. It gives the families left behind opportunity to talk about their experiences and share these with others who understand.
