HARP is a charity in Southend that helps the homeless by providing emergency support such as food, washing facilities and emergency accommodation. In addition it offers specialist support, supported accommodation and training to enable people to get back on their feet over time.

    Situation

    HARP assisted 1,557 people last year. Nearly half were young people. There is an increasing number of people sleeping rough. Many have a history of mental illness. HARP see people in desperate need. They are alone and hungry and many have been sleeping on the streets.

    Solution

    As well offering emergency services for people who are homeless and distressed, over time specialist staff assist each person through a personalised package of support, accommodation and training to enable people to get back on their feet.
