Situation

Cornwall Wildlife Trust works on behalf of the Looe Bathing Water Quality Partnership, which aims to protect Looe’s bathing waters from pollution.

Solution

Farmers are taking steps to protect the river at the top of the catchment. Last year they completed 13 projects to reduce agricultural pollution in rivers. These included over 3000m of fencing to keep cows out of rivers, 3 farm wetlands to settle out sediment and create habitat and 2 areas of new woodland.
