    Situation

The new Engineering and Computing Faculty Building, is purposely designed to inspire young people (14-19) to study STEM subjects at degree level. It will work hand in hand with our planned curriculum changes that will truly engage students. We are going to create a physical learning environment, through sympathetic design of space, which engenders team work, co-operation and synergy between academics, students and the business world. In doing so are working closely with employers to ensure that courses reflect their ever-changing demands, increasing the level of employability skills among STEM graduates and escalating public investment. One of the key outcomes of the new building will be to produce large numbers of well-qualified graduates into high-growth SME’s and blue-chip companies, to develop increased market advantage for UK Plc. Aiding the future repositioning of the UK economy, as technologically driven and away from the current financial service model. This will help to allow sufficient advanced manufacturing capacity to maintain globally competitive. This building will also be environmentally sound, with various demonstration environmental projects being evaluated in various sections including the roof.
