Supporting young people through difficult periods, resolving problems, raising confidence and self esteem, we provide a consistant support worker and signpost to other relevant agencies. We train and support a team of volunteer young people who act as Peer Mentors for younger students.

    Situation

The Student Support Project provides one to one support for young people facing difficulties, crisis and experiencing trauma. We provide additional support for young people with mental health problems, those in local authority care and those facing exclusion from school. We also train and support a team of student Peer Mentors who in turn engage with younger students. The projects expenditure for the coming year is £35, 614. This includes the salaries of a full time student support worker and a part time administrative assistant, plus the on costs including training and supervision. Income already raised or promised totals £25,000 so we are facing a shortfall of £10,000 to continue the valuable work undertaken by the project.
