Moving in the Planets

GravityMotion brings together scientists, dancers and the public to explore gravity and momentum, their impact on the human body, and how they can be harnessed to allow us to move more efficiently and safely. We will be working in close collaboration with school and in estate in Brent.

Situation

We are tackling 3 problems 1st Obesity: Brent has a very young population - with a 53% of obesity ratio. A great deal of human movement is the result of the unconscious impact of gravity and momentum on the body. This impacts throughout our lives, from childhood to old age: it is therefore vital that we improve our understanding of unconscious movement and how gravity and momentum can used consciously to help us move better. Body confidence only 39% of girls in the UK had high body confidence

Solution

We are planning daily 4 hours workshops on Estates for 2 weeks periods where we go to the estates to work on the premises with the young people. We are talking to the council, youth groups, and schools. The programme will be based on combining science, technology, movement and participation we can simultaneously advance our physicality while unlocking our creativity. Understand how the physics of gravity can be applied to their wellbeing Work with the concept of a centre point of gravity.
