The restoration of the Dunblane War Memorial and gardens

A survey undertaken has revealed that some remedial work is needed to allow the memorial to remain a focus of remembrance for many years to come. The overall cost of repairs is estimated at £5800 and this will include some improvements to assist access for those with special needs. It is important to remember the sacrifices of our Armed Forces not just of yester year but also today.

The Dunblane Branch of The Legion is committed to the restoration project and we would hope the public will respond to our appeal for help. The main work is centred around the need to repair some extensive areas of masonary and the name boards which bear the names of the fallen. We are also intending to level the surround for easier access for those with special needs. The stone work is the most costly work and will require approx £4500 to achieve success. The ‘Dunblane War Memorial Appeal’ hopes to raise the money to allow work to commence in the spring of this year and already some funding options are being explored but donations are invited from the public with any cheques made payable to ‘The Royal British Legion (Scotland) Dunblane Branch’ and sent to 22 Montgomery Crescent, Dunblane FK15 9FB.
