    Situation

Heathfield is an area of deprivation with virtually no clubs and poor transport links effectively isolating young people, as access to main towns are along dangerous unlit roads without footpaths. WHERE WE ARE WITH THE PROJECT: ♦ Land has been donated by local business, Sparkworld, for 3 years. ♦ The site has been cleared with help from the community. ♦ Portacabins, associated services and funds to equip them have been provided with money secured from the ‘Safer Devon Partnership’ and are now on site and ready for use. The end goal would achieve a Youth Drop-in facility for 3 evenings a week 48 weeks per year. THE HELP WE NEED NOW IS: £20,000 per annum – to get this project running 3 evenings a week. This will fund salaries of a Project Co-ordinator (£13k) & 2 sessional workers (£7k). Core salaries are something many grants and funders will not consider. We have enough volunteers to staff the remainder with support from the Youth Café. The Project Co-ordinator will manage the project over the 3 years.
