We know living with diabetes can be difficult and people are often confused and feel they don't have the information and skills to maintain good diabetes control. For the newly diagnosed it can be a very difficult time leading to isolation and anxiety. Diabetes complications can lead to amputation and sight loss among other things. People don't always consider the long term physical and mental effects of living with and managing a life long chronic condition.
The day offers excellent advice, care and support to the delegates. They can spend time with the specialist diabetes teams to answer their diabetes questions in a relaxed and informal environment. They also have the chance to meet other people with the condition, make friends and benefit from vital information from the diagnostic exhibitors that are key to diabetes management. We know people come back every year to learn, share and refresh their knowledge. We measure the long term learning.
