The area of Lewisham has the highest crime rate compared to anywhere else in the UK. This fact is a constant reminder to the youths of the area, and subsequently many turn to crime, as they believe there is no hope of ever achieving their life goals. The group provides a regular, and safe programme, where creative youths can express themselves without judgement. It also gives structure in many young people's lives - having classes mid-week means they wont be out on the streets at least 1 night.

The project has helped many young people improve their employment chances - getting involved with Summer Arts peer mentor and supporting artist roles, suggesting young people to be part of the Albany's board etc. Also, the group offers many opportunities for artistic growth. In our last performance, we toured to the BAC, and the whole group were invited to a youth seminar about theatre. This gave us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to well known people in the performance industry.
