There are 18,000 children in the UK with drug-resistant epilepsy. Our funding will allow Scottish based children the opportunity to try a drug-free treatment, which can lead to a reduction in the frequency and severity of seizures, and in some cases complete seizure freedom.

The Daisy Garland will fund a specially trained full-time ketogenic dietitian at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow for 3 years giving children access to the ketogenic diet. We are optimistic that the hospital trust will take over this funding when our funding ceases. Since 2006 we have successfully funded for 8 Daisy Garland Ketogenic Dietitians to work within hospitals in the UK (Plymouth, Bristol, London x 3, Nottingham, Derby and Manchester).
