Rape and sexual abuse are traditionally seen as issues that only affect females. Research indicates that 1 in 9 men suffer childhood sexual abuse and 1 in 29 men are victims of adult sexual assault/rape. This equals approx. 4 million men in the UK living in silence. This lack of recognition leads to an isolation that creates a range of negative issues such as PTSD, Depression and low self-esteem that hinder a man's ability to develop as a healthy and active member of their community.
By providing a specific therapeutic service to men, we have created a space where men can disclose their experience and receive help in moving on from the negative effects.
