We want to build a new resource centre for visually impaired people in Oxfordshire. The project would bring a bigger, better, safer, and more cost efficient facility than the small portakabin which we are currently rent for the sake of our face to face services.

    Situation

Right now, our face-to-face services are based in a small portakabin on-site. Cramped and often cold, it is unsuitable for our service users' needs and ambitions. A lack of space prevents us from setting up a number of other services that would benefit local visually impaired people, while rental costs of roughly £6,000 a year represent an inefficient use of our funders' money.

    Solution

Future Vision's two storey resource centre, buily as annex to our existing base at Bradbury Lodge, would improve the quality of all of our current core services. It would enable us to offer a range of new services which have been requested of us, like courses in computing, cooking, and kitchen skills for visually impaired people. With no rent to pay and better energy efficiency, the centre would also help to reduce our running costs.
