    Situation

To work across Wales to: •survey and population monitor existing populations of red squirrel •manage woodlands so that they provide the ideal habitats for the red squirrel •manage grey squirrels at sites where there are red squirrels in place •monitor grey squirrels who can carry the lethal squirrel pox which kills red squirrels •work with local communities to encourage greater access of the woodlands and to educate people about this beautiful animal It is necessary to work in partnership with a variety of organisations so the Wales Squirrel Forum and the Wales Squirrel Partnership are both heavily involved in the wider all Wales project and all of the Wildlife Trusts in Wales are working together on this.
