The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson (1902-1994), motivated by his progound care for every Jew and concern for every memberof humanity, spurred by his boundless optimism and self-sacrifice, set into motion a network of Chabad Houses in the furthest corners of the world resulting in, probably, the largest Jewish educational organisations in the world, making hundreds of thousands of Jews aware of their roots and hieritage, and having a positive effect upon millions. The Leeds Chabad Lubavitch Centre is one branch of this world-wide movement and is directed by Rabbi Michoel and Chana Sora Danow with the goal of presnting to anyone who wants JUDAISM WITH A SMILE. A variety of events, classes and programmes designed with the Jewish student at university in mind. All the events are free of charge to attend and no background knowledge in Judaism is necessary. From weekly classes to Shabbat and holiday meals, visiting lectures and 'just fun' social events, all with excellent food and drinks and a warm welcoming atmosphere, the students are sure to find something they will enjoy. The Centre was purchased with a private charitable donation together with a bank loan.
