Roundabout's tenancy contract will be terminated as of Easter 2008 (the church now has other plans for the building). To ensure that Roundabout continues to provide excellent pre-school education for current and future children, we need to secure funding to build purpose-built accommodation in the grounds of a nearby Primary School. We have been actively planning this move since 2004, because we wish to improve the environment for the children and to increase the number of places we offer. The proposed move is reinforced by the Government’s ‘Extended Schools’ policy which recommends pre-school provision on or near school sites by 2010. We have developed detailed plans for a two classroom pre-school building with all necessary facilities. We have received advice and plan reviews from various sources including the Early Years and Childcare Team at Cambridgeshire County Council and the Pre-School Learning Alliance. We have also consulted with local residents, and the Council Planning Office to ensure issues are addressed early. Roundabout is managed and supported by a strong team of dedicated people, with a broad range of skills. The charity is overseen by a volunteer committee (the trustees), and has also received the support of a range of outside professionals, some of whom have been co-opted onto the committee. We have the skills and commitment necessary to see the project through to completion.
