'Patches' is a project born out of east to west's pastoral work in schools. A young person told our team, 'I wish you were always here to talk to...' Sadly we can't be, however, Patches, a small cuddly toy our team gives out is. It's a reminder of all the child has learnt and how much they've grown.
Registered Charity in England and Wales (1131229)
We work closely with children and young people and see amazing outcomes in terms of growth and development, however we aren't able to support them through every experience. because it's outside school or no-one is available. By providing a 'Patch' toy, it reminds them that they are not alone and that the learning, techniques and skills they've learned are still there, even if their east to west team member can't be.
Having a physical item which reminds them of good outcomes, positive interactions and improving life experiences makes a massive difference. 'Patch' has been used by young people during police interviews when disclosing rape, children have 'talked' to 'Patch' during Child Protection meetings and it's also been used by students sitting in Exams. 'Patch' helps the children and young people who have one connect to a safe space where they are heard, valued and cared for.
