Christians Together Calderdale

Friday and Saturday Nights

Halifax Street Angels works every Friday and Saturday - week in, week out volunteers commit to making Halifax a safer place. Each night costs around £90 to run - with use of room, electric and water, free drinks and biscuits, first aid supplies, training needs, making sure volunteers have jackets and occasionally helping people with taxi fares. We do it because we see the difference Street Angels makes!

Street Angels came out of Churches Together in Halifax asking what are the needs of our community and what can we do to meet those needs? The night economy of Halifax had turned the town into a no-go area for many people. As people who care we decided to launch Street Angels to see if this could make a difference. Three years later volunteers are still committed to making a difference and spending 9pm - 3am every Friday and Saturday offering support, first aid, safe people and a safe place (Fairtrade Cafe) to those within the town.
