Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land

Educating the donkey owners of tomorrow

Today's children in Israel and Palestine are the donkey owners of tomorrow. Very often however, a lack of education means the children have no idea how to keep their donkey or horse healthy enough to work for them. We aim to provide animal welfare education for local children.

Donkeys, mules and horses are in everyday use in Israel and particularly Palestine. Whole families could not manage without their donkey to bring in crops from the field or to take goods to the market for sale. However, their very poverty means that they are often unable to give their animal the care that it needs, often due to a lack of education among the owners.

Our project aims to provide education for local children who will grow up to be the owners of working equines. It provides training on basic animal care such as grooming, feeding and riding and sessions on how if they look after their animal's needs it will stay healthy and work harder for their family.
