An ambitious, action-packed weekend with classical song recitals given by international artists and the best of emerging young talent, new commissions, a masterclass with young singers and pianists from the national conservatoires, the Composers + Poets Forum forging new creative partnerships, and a workshop and concert of world song, all designed to promote the understanding, appreciation, composition and performance of art-song and to introduce this magnificent music to an ever wider audience. A mini-festival of education projects in primary and secondary schools and audience development initiatives - including a 'Lieder Virgins' concert for people who have never experienced a classical song recital before - is planned for Spring 2011. The estimated cost is approximately £125,000, of which we will need to raise around £65,000 oursleves.
