Education is basic at best in the local communities around our health centre in Boamadumase, Ghana. In Ghana, the population of the local communities are over 7000 in total, with over 60% under 15 years in age, and with 25% between the ages of 2 and 6. There are therefore 2000 children in total under the age of 6. We would like to be able to make a positive impact on their education with the construction of a few small buildings in the communities (estimated £5000 costs) and to be able to pay for the education of bright, interested, local people to become teachers, as well as a school warden to ensure the children attend the school (estimated £6000 to £7000 per year for both salaries combined). An initial grant of £12,000 would therefore be needed to start this project.
