Salisbury Cathedral requires vital conservation and restoration work to its fabric and glazing to preserve the building for our generation and those to come. The repair programme stems from a detailed survey presented in the 1980’s, advising comprehensive fabric repairs to the entire Cathedral.

Salisbury Cathedral is one of only 8 out of England’s 42 Cathedrals to have its own Works Department, which preserves now rare craft skills. Our dedicated Works team is working its way around the building and we are fortunate to have such personnel, as there is a shortage of these specialist skills and the cost of using contractors is substantially higher than in-house labour. The major repair programme is progressing and we are fundraising so that work can continue according to schedule.
